Junior Associate – Banking & Finance Practice

THE ROLE

This position calls for a junior lawyer within firm the Banking & Finance practice. We require a smart and motivated lawyer, who is willing to learn and to work within a team.

Responsibility

  • To work on financing transaction or regulatory advice under the supervision of senior lawyers, this includes without limitation to draft or review d finance documents and related documentation (including corporate/organisational documents) and to prepare legal advice;
  • Prepare standard corporate due diligence report;
  • To maintain effective working relationships internally and externally;
  • To develop and nurture an interest in the area of practice through legal write-ups and other knowledge sharing initiatives of the firm;
  • To assist with administrative tasks relating to the clients matters (KYC checks, filings, billing etc);
  • To manage own time efficiently, delivering work on time according to requirements and show ability to juggle competing priorities;
  • Ability to deliver work according to the firm’s standards;
  • Speak effectively, in conversing and presenting with clarity in plain English and French;
  • Act with integrity, honesty and transparency at all times in accordance with firm’s values and standards;
  • Foster a pleasant work environment by engaging in a positive and respectful manner;

Requirements

You should

  • At minimum, hold an LLB degree from a recognised Institution;
  • A previous working experience in a law firm and in the banking & finance sector would be a plus;
  • Enjoy working a fast-paced environment;
  • Show an understanding of the financial markets and legal systems;
  • Have proactive attitude;
  • Have a strong commitment to form part of a team and to grow professionally;
  • Be able to deliver high quality standard of work;

COMPETENCIES

Legal Technical skills

  • Have a strong knowledge of commercial and corporate law (including but not limited to Companies Act and Code Civil);
  • Show an understanding of commercial transactions and industry knowledge.
