Bhavna Ramsurun

Associate

Bhavna Ramsurun is an associate at BLC Robert and is mainly involved in diverse facets of financial regulatory matters with special focus on securities law, investment funds and capital markets regulation.

In that capacity, she has advised domestic and international players on securities law and capital market matters including the raising of capital (private and public) and listing of securities (structured products, exchange traded funds, equity and debt securities) on both the Official Market and the Development & Enterprise Market of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius and on their ongoing obligations under the regulatory framework as well as acted for investors in relation to acquiring shares in Mauritius entities (listed and those entities regulated by the Financial Services Commission). Bhavna has advised on the secondary listing in Mauritius of foreign exchange traded funds (being the first ETFs to be listed locally) such as NewGold Issuer Limited (Gold and Platinum ETFs) and NewFunds S&P GIVI South Africa Top 50 Index ETF Portfolio, which are also listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Recently, Bhavna assisted on the initial public offering and listing of Attitude Property Limited and the admission of ABC Banking Corporation Ltd on the Development & Enterprise Market of the Stock Exchange of Mauritius.

Bhavna also regularly advises on the establishment of closed-end funds and collective investment schemes in Mauritius and of financial services providers and has assisted a number of private equity funds, fund managers as well as institutional investors. She has recently assisted on the setting up of an Africa-focused private equity fund with transaction value of USD 500 million. Bhavna holds a law degree and a postgraduate in International Business Law from the Middlesex University (UK). She was called to the Bar of England and Wales at the Honourable Society of Middle Temple and to the Bar of Mauritius.
